CEC Girls Tennis Finish Up With A Win

Friday evening marked the final regular season match of the year for the CEC girls tennis team and they finished up on a good note by defeating Duluth Central 6-1.


The Lumberjacks suffered their only loss at #1 singles when Kelsey Collier dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Amanda Pihjala, but from there on out it was all CEC.


Alicen Johnson was magnificent in a 7-5, 6-2 win over Molly Denny at #2 singles. Savanna Ellena was strong in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Martha James at #3 singles and at #4 singles Kristin Chalich easily handled Liesa Erickson 6-1, 6-4.


At doubles, the CEC #1 team of Reilly Kedrowski and Michaela Houser easily handled Caitlyn Rudoly and Naomi Robinson 6-0, 6-1. At #2 doubles, the CEC team of Alyssa Acheson and Asha Fritsinger defeated Hayley Smith and Emily Johnson 6-3, 6-0. Finally the #3 CEC doubles team of Elizabeth Jezierski and Malyssa Brady were winners by default over the Trojans.


The win improved the Jacks to 7-8 in meets this season. CEC will enter the playoffs this week.
