Hawks Move to 6-0

Thomas Madison is a big time play maker for the Hermantown Hawks football team. On Friday night the senior running back had a game of HUGE plays by scoring on a run of 77 yards and two passing plays that covered 30 and 57 yards respectively as Hermantown spanked Grand Rapids 35-8 on Friday night in Hermantown.

The Hawks opened the first quarter with 21-straight points including the opening 77 yard touchdown jaunt by Madison followed by a Nick Bostrom pass to Madison that covered 30 yards and a Peter Grytdahl 37 yard touchdown run. Cody McShane added the extra point kick on all three scores giving the Hawks a 21-0 edge after the opening stanza.

Before the first half ended the Hawks added yet another score on a Bostrom to Madison throw, catch and run that covered 57 yards and built the Hermantown lead to 28-0 at halftime following McShane’s fourth extra point kick.

The lone score of the third quarter was a James Lindberg one-yard touchdown plunge as Hermantown went up 35-0 after the McShane extra point.

Grand Rapids was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks had already left little down which teams in the Northeast Red Division was the better team on Friday night.

With the win the Hawks improved to 6-0 with Grand Rapids dropping to 4-2.
