CEC Tennis Falls To Virginia 7-0

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team got an up close and personal look at the level they will need to play at in order to compete for a section tennis title. Playing against Virginia on Tuesday, the Jacks fell 7-0 to the Blue Devils and found out just how good they need to be.


Kelsey Collier of CEC fell at #1 singles to Hailey Slatten 6-1, 6-0. Perhaps CEC’s best chance for a win came at #2 singles where Alicen Johnson dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Caley Westin. Savanna Ellena fell at #3 singles to Megan Skorich and Michaela Houser lost at #4 singles to Morgan Cunningham 6-1, 6-1.


At #1 doubles it was Casey Mauston and Amanda Babich of Virginia beating Reilly Kedrowski and Savannah Hanson 6-3, 6-2. Lizz Jezierski and Asha Fritsinger of CEC lost to Taylor Gunderson and Meghan Skaudis 6-0, 6-0 at #2 doubles and at #3 doubles it was the CEC team of Miranda Lyons and Kristin Chalich losing to Alida Tieberg and Jessica Berglund 6-1, 6-2.
