CEC Tops Marshall 5-2 In Girls Tennis

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team picked up an impressive 5-2 win over Duluth Marshall on Thursday. With three wins in singles, the Jacks set the tone for the rest of the match and persevered over the Hilltoppers.


CEC’s #1 singles player Kelsey Collier dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Charlotte Skinner, but the Jacks then picked up wins at all the remaining singles slots. Playing at #2 singles it was Alicen Johnson taking a 6-1, 6-1 win over Maddy Carpenter. At #3 singles it was Savanna Ellena of CEC winning over Emma Stauber.
Michaela Houser of CEC won at #4 singles 6-2, 6-0 over Kassie Serre.


In doubles, the Jacks notched victories at #1 and #3, while losing a tough match at #2 doubles. Savannah Hanson and Reilly Kedrowski won at #1 doubles over their opponents 6-0, 7-5 and at #3 doubles it was Malyssa Brady and Stephanie Campbell taking a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 decision over Clara Espe and Cami McKee. CEC’s #2 doubles team of Kalie Shevich and Kara Cresap fell 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 in a heartbreaker to Liz Buschke and Laura Schoesson.


The Jacks will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Virginia to take on the Blue Devils at 4:15pm.
