Hermantown Tops CEC 6-1 In Girls Tennis

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team is fighting through a difficult portion of their schedule. The Jacks found out just how difficult it was when they fell 6-1 on Tuesday night at home against the Hermantown Hawks.

Playing in ideal conditions, the Jacks could only pick up one win against the Hawks an that was at
#1 doubles from the team of Savannah Hanson and Reilly Kedrowski, who defeated their opponents 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Kelsey Collier fell at #1 singles to DJ Nelson, Alicen Johnson of CEC lost at #2 singles to Jean Dougherty, it was Savannah Ellena losing at #3 singles and Michaela Houser of CEC lost at #4 singles to Sarah Cooke of Hermantown.

In singles, the matches at #1 and #2 singles were tight. Collier’s loss to Nelson was a 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 affair and Johnson’s loss to Dougherty was a tough 7-6, 7-5 set.

Other than the #1 doubles victory, the Jacks struggled. At #2 doubles, the CEC team of Kalie Shevich and Kara Cresap lost a tight match to Val Youngren and Whitney Walker and at #3 doubles it was Liz Jezierski and Asha Fritsinger losing to Olivia Salo and Morgan Reno.
