It took a couple of touchdowns by Devin Lee, but in the end the South Ridge Panthers picked up a 12-8 road victory over Ely on the road on Friday night. The victory improved the Panthers record to 3-1 on the season.

Lee scored the lone touchdown of the first half on a three-yard run in the first quarter, however, the Panthers were unable to convert the extra point kick and led the game just 6-0 entering halftime.

To start the second half the Timberwolves found a spark when Carter Manning returned the opening kickoff of the half 75-yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 6-6. Then, the Timberwolves got another boost when Louis Gerzin added a two-point conversion run allowing to take an 8-6 lead.

Lee finished things off in the scoring department when he slammed in from the three-yard line for his second touchdown of the game pushing the lead to 12-8, and that would be all the scoring in the game.

The win improved the Panthers record to 3-1 overall and is the third win in four tries under first year head coach Tony DeLeon. The last time the Team won three games in a season was back in 2009 as the AlBrook Falcons. As a combined AlBrook/Cotton team they went winless in 2010 and won one game in 2011.

The Panthers will host Big North Conference foe Northeast Range on Friday at South Ridge Field.
