Thunder Blank Northland Technical C.C. 17-0

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Football team defeated Northland Technical and Community College 17-0 at Bromberg Field in Cloquet on Saturday.


The Thunder solidified their first place position in the Northern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference with the win and improved their record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Division. The defensive shutout was the first one in Thunder program history.


The Thunder defense held Northland to only 46 rushing yards and 220 total yards, with four sacks and forced three Northland fumbles. Northland quarterback Edin Novak was held to 15 completions in 36 attempts and one interception for 174 yards total. The Thunder produced five turnovers total. Khari Howard and Nick Hendrichs had six tackles each to lead the Thunder defense.


The Thunder jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a touchdown run by Victor Griffin and a field goal by kicker Tony Makela. Griffin rushed 36 times for 154 yards to lead the rushing attack. Jordan Myles scored the final Thunder touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The Thunder offense produced 199 rushing yards and 373 total yards.


The Thunder travel to Hutchinson next Saturday to play Ridgewater Community College. Entering this weekend, Ridgewater was undefeated at 4-0 and leading the MCAC Southern Division.
