Laine’s 31 Point Night Leads Cloquet Over Ashland

A 31 point night from sophomore Adam Laine helped the Cloquet boys basketball team take a 67-41 road win over the Ashland Oredockers on Tuesday night.

The Lumberjacks outmuscled the Oredockers on the boards and took a 39-32 edge in rebounding. Another key stat for the Jacks was points scored off turnovers. The Jacks had 18 points off miscues by the Oredockers to just six points for Ashland off of mistakes by the Lumberjacks.

Dillon Johnson added six points for Cloquet, Sean Ferrell scored eight, it was seven for Zack Peterson, Trent Moe also had six points and Erik Swanson finished with five points.

Leading Ashland in scoring was Brett Hulmer with 14, Tyler Hunt scored 11, Don Gordon added seven, Bryce Miller scored five points, Kevin Huybrecht added three and Zach Huybrecht scored a single point for the Oredockers.

Cloquet led 32-26 lead at halftime and then pulled away by outscoring Ashland 35-15 in the second half to take the road victory.


The Lumberjacks will be back on the hard-court on Saturday when they host Chisago Lakes in a 3:00pm game.
