Barnum Girls Remain Perfect On The Season

The Barnum Bombers girls’ softball team continued with their winning ways on Thursday as they downed the hosting McGregor Mercuries by a score of 21-2. The Bombers finished the game in 5 innings, winning the
Polar League match-up by nineteen runs.

The Bombers scored their season high in runs with twenty-one and only gave up two. Barnum has now won seven straight games to
kick off the season
and
they continue to prepare themselves for the Section 5A playoffs.

Katie Myhre was the winning pitcher for the Bombers pitching
five innings. She
gave up two runs on two hits and recorded seven strikeouts. This was Myhre’s sixth win of the season for Barnum.

Offensively, Myhre had an outstanding day at the plate. She went 5-5, scored three runs and had 6 RBIs. Jessica Newman was 2-3; she scored two runs and had 2 RBIs. Allanie Hanek-Siltanen was 3-5 with 4 RBIs and scored two runs in the Barnum blowout.

The Bombers improve to 7-0 on the season and are next in action Monday when they play Hinckley-Finlayson at Hinckley. The Mercuries are now 4-4 on the season and they will be hosting a tournament this weekend in McGregor.
