The Lady Bulldogs continued their winning ways on Thursday as they traveled to Floodwood and
came away with
the 6-0 win.

Mia Saunders pitched a four hit complete game, striking out four Floodwood batters to pick up the road win.

Carlton started out strong with four singles and a double by Melissa Clark to scoring four runs in the first two innings. Carlton’s bats would be slowed however. “Floodwood made a pitching change with Molly Johnson coming into the game in the third inning, she struck out 10 of our batters over the next five innings, however we still managed to get two runs through in the top of the sixth and seventh innings” Bulldogs coach Brooke Lee told NSO.

Leading the offensive effort for the bulldogs were Amanda Eggert and Brook Camps with two hits apiece. Camps also added two stolen bases.

Melissa Clark had two hits and 2 RBI’s on the offensive end; it was her defense however, that energized the Bulldogs. While patrolling center field Clark made a diving catch and a shoestring catch that saw her save a run when she came up throwing and tossed out a runner who had tagged up and was trying to score.

With the win, Carlton ups their record to 5-4 on the season. They will host Ely on Friday at Chub Lake Park. With the loss, Floodwood falls to 2-7 on the season. They will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Nashwauk-Keewatin.
