Randy Myhre Named Coach of The Year

Minnesota Breakdown USA has named Randy Myhre as their 2010 Girls basketball coach of the year. They also gave recognition to eight coaches in different classes this year as well.


After finishing third last season at the state basketball tournament and second two years ago, Barnum made the most of its third straight trip to state by claiming the Class A championship with a 43-31 victory over Goodhue last month at Target Center. The championship was the first for longtime coach Randy Myhre, who is also recognized as the Breakdown’s Coach of the Year award winner in all classes of competition.


Myhre joins a distinguished group of coaches honored in each class including Andy Berkvam head coach of Lakeville North (Class AAAA) and Jeremy Post the head coach of White Bear Lake (Class AAAA). The Coaches recognized in Class AAA were Erin Herman of Hill-Murray and Bob Lyons of Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Josh Thurow of Minnehaha Academy and Jon Rosholt of Watertown-Mayer were the Class AA coaches. And in Class A Josh Tjosaas of Buffalo Lake-Hector joined Myhre as single A coaches of the year.


Breakdown USA also awarded Team of the Year to the Barnum Bombers girls basketball team. Katrina Newman was named to the Breakdown’s first team all-state team. Newman was awarded the offensive performance of the year award. At the state tournament Newman scored 56 points in three games to lead the Bombers to the title.
