Carlton Tops Mariners In Double Header

The Carlton boys and girls hosted the Silver Bay Mariners on Friday night. The night began with the boys winning 70-53 and ending with the girls topping the Mariners 56-44.1620475_10203295674418333_480036383_n (426x640)

In the action that started the evening, the boys got out to the 40-24 lead at the half. They would outscore the Mariners 30-29 in the second half to secure the 17 point win, 70-53.

The Bulldogs were lead by a balanced scoring attack. Cade Pierson and Eric Soderstrom scored 14 a piece, Adam Ermatinger notched 13, and Waylon Lekander and Nick Lee tallied 9 a piece. Also scoring in the win was Tyler Ojibway with 7, Dominic Bennett with 5, and Sam Macor rounding it out with 1.

The Mariners were lead by Michael Fischer who had a game high 25 points including 5 threes. Eben Fischer scored 7, Curtis Johnson and Spencer Tiboni each notched 6, Jason Blood scored 5, and Michael Klofstad topped it off with 4.

On the girls side of the ball, the Bulldogs held the slim 24-22 lead at the half but would go on to outscore the Mariners 32-22 in the second half to ensure the victory, 56-44.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Taylor Klassen who had a game high 18 points. Also scoring for the Bulldogs was Ashley Anderson with 9, Amelia Groth notching 8, Jenna Reed scoring 7, Karly Voge with 6, Nikki Ojibway with 4, and Tara Mostrom and Vanessa Davis topping it off with 2 a piece.

For the Mariners, Tara Dow had a team high, 14 points. Also scoring was Brandi Nopola with 13, Aubrey Thun notching 11, and Erika Ernest topping it off with 6.

The Carlton Bulldogs improve to 3-13 on the boys season and 3-11 on the girls season. The Mariners fall to 1-13 for the boys and 0-15 for the girls. The Bulldogs boys will match up on the road with the South Ridge Panthers (14-3) on February 3rd, whereas the girls won’t play their next game until February 6th when they host the South Ridge Panthers (8-6). The Mariner boys and girls will travel to play the Fond Du Lac Ojibwe Ogichida on February 3rd.
