The Barnum boy’s baseball team ended a four game losing streak on Wednesday as they downed the Cardinals by a score of 11-1. The rain that fell Wednesday afternoon broke enough to let the teams get the game in as the Bombers rolled to the ten-run victory.

The Bombers victory, the second win of the season, “was a nice win” head Coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “The rain was coming down, we didn’t know if wed get the game in but we did and it was nice to get the win.” Duesler also mentioned.

Sophomore Justin Newman who started his first varsity game was the winning pitcher for the Bombers. Newman pitched five innings in the ten-run victory, he gave up one run on two hits, and he struck out seven, while only walking two. “It was a great win for him in his first start on the mound.” Duesler also told NSO.

Senior Kyle Duesler led the Bombers hit parade Wednesday as he went 3-4 from the plate and drove in one run, Brody Peterson was 2-4 in the win, with three runs batted in. The Bombers opened things up in the second inning when then exploded for seven runs and ensure themselves a victory.

The Bombers improve their over all record to 2-4 on the season, and they will travel to McGregor to take on the Mercuries on Thursday afternoon. McGregor enters the game Thursday coming off two straight wins and have a 2-6 record. Cotton falls to 0-4 on the season and they will play at home against Hill City on Thursday.
