CEC Boys Tennis Starts The Season 2-0

The Cloquet Esko Carlton boy’s tennis team opened 2-0 to start this spring sport season. The Lumberjacks went 2-0 by defeating Duluth Central by a score of 6-1 at Duluth Central High School. The Lumberjacks got past Eveleth-Gilbert in their first match of the 2010 season on Tuesday.


In singles Thursday it was Dylan Burslie of CEC defeating Matt Beaulieu, Sean Kedrowski of CEC defeated Trevor Esson, Zach Zezulka of CEC beat Steffen Wirsching, and it was Joel Gustafson of Duluth Central downing CEC’s Ryan Lind.


Cloquet swept the doubles portion of the meet, going 3-0. It was Jake Sorenson and Chase Pritchett beating Andrew Fredrickson and Caleb Reder, Ryan Kedrowski and Jon Hammitt defeating Derek Johnson & Steve Knuth, and Anthony Hudson with Cameron Halfrisch getting past Brent Engblom and Sam DeLuca.


On Tuesday, in the match against the Golden Bears, winners in singles were Burslie, Zezulka, and Tanner Webster. The doubles winners were Sorenson and Pritchett in one doubles match, and Kedrowski and Hammitt in the other.


The Lumberjack tennis team will be back in action again on Tuesday, April 20th when they face Duluth Denfeld at the Wheeler Tennis courts in West Duluth. Duluth Central falls to 0-3 on the season.
