On Tuesday afternoon, the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels were hoping to rebound after a loss last week to Silver Bay. They did just that when they came away with a 10-6 win in this Polar League contest at Esko.

The Rebels jumped on the scoreboard first with one run in the first inning, and that was followed by four runs in the second. Moose Lake also scored runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to assure the Polar League win.

“It was a great win,” head coach Andrew Miller told Northland Sports Online. “We hit the ball really well today and the big key was we scored most of our runs with two outs.” Miller went on to say, “It’s nice to get a win on the road; Esko has such a strong tradition.”

The Rebels had several players stand out offensively Tuesday. Kathryn Green led the Rebels going 4-5 on the afternoon. Emily Wasche added 3 hits in the win. Kim Ergen and Katie Youngberg also added two hits apiece in the Rebel victory.

The Rebels improve to 1-1 on the season and are in action again on Monday when they play a rescheduled game against the Barnum Bombers. Monday’s game will follow one between Barnum and AlBrook. The Eskomos fall to 1-2 on the season and are in action again Thursday when they travel to Silver Bay and face the Mariners.
