The Rebels continued their winning ways this softball season, as they downed Cook County on Tuesday by a score of 2-0. The Rebels pick up their sixth win out of seven starts this season. Their only defeat was a loss last week to Rush City.

The Rebels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and that would be all Moose Lake- Willow River needed to win the Polar League Match up. Katie Youngberg continued her outstanding pitching this season as she picks up her sixth win of the season; she only faced 27 batters, struck out six and gave up one hit in the shut out win.

“Katie pitched very well again and our defense shut down Cook County,” head Coach Katie Collier told Northland Sports Online. “When they would have runners on Katie would step up or our defense would come up with a big play.” Collier stated. “We have a different player come through every night.” Kim Ergen and Amanda Larson continue to do well for the Rebels, as they are the teams leading hitters early in the season.

Against Cook County, Emily Wasche was 2-3 with three stolen bases; Mary Moonen was also 2-3 with a stolen base, while Amanda Larson and Sam Juhl each drove in a run for the Rebels in their two-run victory.

Moose Lake-Willow River is in action again on Thursday as they take on the Two Harbors Agates in Two Harbors. The Rebels are now 6-1 on the season while Cook County falls to 1-6 overall.
