Hunters – Greyhounds Split

  It was a mixed bag of tricks for the Denfeld and Duluth East basketball teams on Thursday night.  The Denfeld boys notched an eight point win over the East enders, while the Greyhound girls basketball team recorded an easy win over the Hunters.

  In the boys game the Hunters slipped out to a 26-19 halftime edge and held that lead throughout the second half in taking a 60-52 victory over East.

  Leading the Hunters in scoring was Sjon Randa who had 16 points, but he had plenty of help with Des Turner adding 12 points, while both Jamarr Harkins and Kjell Randa chipping in with 10 points.  Also scoring were; Jack Monson and Spencer Wallner with five points apiece, it was Marques Jones scoring a pair of points, while both Connor Behm and Bryce Kucharski each had a point.

 The Greyhounds got 16 points from Chaz McBeath and 13 from Sam Thompson, while it was eight each for Will Heyer and Quinten Miller, seven points for Ryan Downing and one point for Joe Yernatich.

  In the girls game the East girls zipped out to an eight point halftime edge and then pushed ahead for a 64-47 victory over the Hunters.

  Leading the scoring column for the Greyhounds was Bridge Fagre who dumped in 19 points, while Liz Libbon added 12 and Danielle Cieluch recorded 10 points.  Mia Anderson added nine points, Erica Churchill finished with six points, it was five points for Ashley Williams, Veronica Rudolph scored two points and Rachel Weyenberg had a point.

  Sisters Ashley and Ciarra Taipale led the Hunters with 13 and 11 points respectively.  Lexi Hill added 10 points, Keara Ballavance chipped in with five points, it was Gabby Nordman adding four points and two points each for Maddy White and Tyler Ballavance.
