Deadrick Sets Esko’s all-time scoring Record

Kory Deadrick has had many awards and has had a lot of recognition as a basketball standout for the Esko Eskomos, but it was a record that stood for 59 years that’s Deadrick now holds as the Esko senior broke Harold Bergstedt’s scoring record for Esko High School as part of a 80-39 win over Floodwood Thursday night.

Deadrick who scored 31 points on the night broke the record on a three-point basket from right in front of the Esko player bench, his only three-pointer of the night; on an assist from Marc Peterson. When Deadrick broke the record a timeout had to wait till the next dead ball where Kory was honored for his achievement on the hard court.

Deadrick needed 30 points heading into the night and as Deadrick told Northland Sports Online, “my teammates kept feeding me the ball all night long.” Kory went on to say, “I had a lot of looks inside, had some second chances for some baskets, but my teammates kept feeding me, and it was so very special to break this record at home.”
