MLWR Boys And Girls Come Out Victorious

In a double header, the Moose Lake Willow River Rebels and Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers matched up in both, boys and girls basketball. It was the Rebels winning both match-ups on the evening. The girls came out with the 52-27 victory, while the boys won 76-44.

The Lady Rebels dominated the game, leading 20-6 at half and outscoring the Hilltoppers 32-21 in the second half to seal the victory. The boys also won handily, holding the slight 32-23 advantage at half, they went on a scoring barrage, outscoring the Hilltoppers 44-21 en route to their victory.

In the Lady Rebels victory, they were lead by Adri Jusczak who scored 15 and Morgan Prachar who added 10. Also scoring Kayla Radel with 8, Hayley Johnson, Holly Mattison, and Ava Szczyrbak all scoring 4, Dana Olson notching 3, and Hannah Walker  and Jodi Michalski topping it off with 2.

The Hilltoppers had scoring from Mary Baumgartner who notched 13, Maddie Eyer added 9, Meghan Matthews pitched in 4, and Anna Eyer rounded it out with 1.

On the boys side of things, the Rebels were lead by Brad Fossum who scored 22 including 4 from deep and Charlie Adamczak who notched 21 with 5 from three point land. Matt Mach added 11 in the win, Ike Pederson had 8, Zach Schaumburg scored 4, Trenton Autio and Erza Szcyrbak each scored 3, and Isaac Riihiluoma and Rex Janke topped it off with 2 each.

For the Hilltoppers, Alex Davis notched 14, Cole Feriancek scored 9, Cole Bradshaw added 7, Alex Johnson pitched in 4, Adam Kneepkens tallied 3, Addison Aparicio and Chris Nordman each had 2, and Charlie Kratz topped it off with 1.

The Lady Rebels improved to 11-2 on the season and look to keep their win streak alive when they travel to play the Two Harbors Agates (7-5) on January 23rd. The Hilltoppers fall to 6-8 on the season and will look to bounce back against the Silver Bay Mariners (0-12) on the road on January 23rd.

For the boys, the Rebels improve to 10-6 on the year and will also match up with the Two Harbors Agates (8-6) next, at home on January 24th. The Hilltoppers fell to 5-9 on the season and will travel to play the South Ridge Panthers (11-3) on January 23rd.
