Cloquet to Host Takkunen Tournament

Braun Park in Cloquet will be the site for the annual Rebecca Takkunen Memorial Softball Tournament on May 9th. The tournament will feature many of the top teams from the region as well as teams from Wisconsin and the Twin Cities.

Rebecca Takkunen was a star athlete who played in the Cloquet Youth Baseball/Softball Association. The daughter of Lyle and Judy Takkunen loved the sport of softball. The tournament is held by her parents, family and friends to honor her memory as well as to raise money for the Takkunen Scholarship Fund. Each year, the scholarship goes to a graduating Cloquet High School softball player who best exemplifies the tributes of Rebecca as they enter college.

The entire Braun Park complex will be used for the tourney as will the Cloquet High School field. The tournament will feature both varsity and junior varsity teams from each of the participating schools.
