The AlBrook Falcons advanced to the Section 7A semi-finals Saturday in Hibbing with a 67- 65 victory over the Lakeview Christian Academy Lions.

Senior guard Peter Martin scored 12 of his 21 points in the second half to spark the Falcons on a 9-2 run to start the second half, a lead they would hold on to for the remainder of the game.

Once again, AlBrook was led by the Karpinen duo with Colten and Brice combining for a total of 35 points. In addition to his 14 points, Brice Karpinen’s key free-throw with 7.4 seconds sealed the victory for AlBrook.

The Falcons were led on the defensive side of the ball by young 6’0″ eighth grader, Dominic Janke. Janke played low post for most of the second half due to senior Damontaye Gaines sitting on the bench with foul trouble. Janke finished with two points and nine rebounds.

Lakeview Christian Academy was led by freshman Anders Bowman’s 35 points. Lakeview Christian Academy was coming off of their first boys basketball playoff win in school history over Cherry Thursday night and finish their season at 17-11.

The 16-8 Falcons advance to their first section semi-finals since 2006 against the defending Section 7A champion, the Chisholm Bluestreaks, at 6PM Thursday at Hibbing Memorial Arena. The Bluestreaks advanced with a 61-55 victory over the Tower Soudan Golden Eagles.
