The Braham Bombers boys basketball team copied the same feat their girls basketball team did on Thursday night–beat Esko in sectional play at UMD. The Bombers shot down the Eskomos by a final score of 80-63.

Braham jumped out to an early first half lead behind the hot shooting of Tyler Vaughn. The Bombers built a lead at halftime of 39-24. Vaughn hit five three-pointers on the afternoon for Braham.

Braham came out in the second half and built the lead to as many as 19. Esko fought back, but could never cut the lead to less than ten points. Adam Eskuri hit numerous shots that cut in to the lead but it wasn’t enough as the Bombers went on to win by 17.

Eskuri finished with 27 points to pace the Eskomos. Jake Stainbrook scored 17 points, Adam Deveau and Jackson Lindquist each added 6, Cody Townsend chipped in with 5, and Andrew Wendland ended with 2.

Tyler Vaughn led all scorers with 35 points. Ben Thiry added 14 points and Jesse Johnson scored 13 in the victory. Braham improves to 25-3 overall on the season and will face Deer River in the section semi-finals on Tuesday night at UMD.

The Eskomos season comes to an end with an overall record of 18-10. Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate the following seniors whose basketball careers have finished at Esko High School. Those seniors include Adam Deveau, Phil Wirtz, Cody Townsend, Sam Nigon, Brent Bodie, and Adam Ryan.
