MORA – The Cromwell Cardinals came up short as the Isle Huskies beat them 66-49 for the third time this season. The Mustangs won by 17 points and advance to play the Barnum Bombers Tuesday night at East Central High School.

The Huskies came out and dominated inside by pounding the ball into the low post where Cole Oswald scored 18 points in the first half alone. Isle opened up a 14-point lead early in the first half. Neil Karg also contributed inside with 12 points in this stanza.

Cromwell made one run in the first half and cut the lead to six points at 27-21, but then the Huskies went on an 11-1 run to close out the first half with a 38-22 lead.

The second half was much like the first with Isle dominating inside and Cromwell coming up a bit short on shots. Foul trouble also plagued Cromwell as Ryan Hutar fouled out with ten minutes remaining.

Cromwell and Isle traded baskets down the stretch, but it wasn’t enough as the Huskies advance to the section semi-finals. Oswald finished with a game high of 33 points on the night to lead all scorers. Isle improves to 21-6 overall on the season.

Cromwell had three players in double figures: Jordan Smith had 13, Cody Smith chipped in with 11 and Nolan Wester added 10. The Cardinals finish the season with a 16-0 overall record.
