Lady Hawks Stop Golden Bears

The Hermantown Hawks girls basketball team started fast Saturday afternoon as the Hawks jumped out to a 39-10 half time lead and never looked back as the Hawks went on to a 69-45 non conference win.

Shania Bolen connected for 24 points Saturday to lead all scores on the afternoon. Carly Hansen chipped in with 16 for Hermantown as the only two Hawk players in double figures.

Emily Neumann added 8 points for Hermantown while it was Jordyn Thomas adding 7, Courtney Kaneski had 5 points, Taylor Schmidt ended with 4, Kianna Hren finished with 4 and it was Mariah Ruhanen ending with 2.

The Golden Bears were led by Katelyn Rice as she finished with 18 points in the loss, Maija DePaulis added 13, while Olivia Bontems had 6, and it was Cora Delich and McKenzie Perushek each with 4 points in the loss.

The Hawks improve to 5-4 on the season and the will play in Barnum on Monday night against the Bombers. The Golden Bears fall to 4-9 and have lost five straight. They will face MLWR Tuesday night in Willow River.
