East Blanks Hunters

Alex Trapp had a goal and an assist Saturday afternoon as the Duluth East Greyhounds shut out the Denfeld Hunters by a score of 3-0 at the Heritage Center in West Duluth.

After a back and forth scoreless first period it was Trapp who scored an unassisted goal 2:29 into the second period, which put the Greyhounds in front 1-0.

The greyhounds made it 2-0 at 14:30 of the second period when Ryan Peterson scored an assist from Ashton Altmann and that put the Greyhounds in front by a score of 2-0 after two periods.

The third period Saturday saw the Greyhounds extend their lead to 3-0 when Jack Kolar topped of the East scoring as he beat River Alander at the 14:30 mark of the third period to give East the 3-0 shutout victory.

Gunnar Howg picked up his second consecutive shutout Saturday as he stopped all 22 shots he faced, as the Greyhounds improve to 11-3 overall and now have won 7 consecutive games.

The Greyhounds will be back in action Tuesday night when they will host Blaine at the Heritage Center. The Hunters fall to 7-8 on the season and they will be back in action Tuesday night when they will square off with the Bluejackets in Hibbing.
