Esko Wins 10th Straight

The Esko Eskomos haven’t recorded a loss on their record since December 2nd when they fell to the Hermantown Hawks. Since that loss, they haven’t looked back and have maintained their No. 1 ranking in Class AA. On Friday night they would keep their winning streak alive going on the road to face the Carlton Bulldogs, winning 84-23 for their 10th straight win.

Early in the 1st half it was a closely contested game, with Esko leading 14-10 midway through the first. Carlton would hit a dry spell on scoring however as Esko would go on a 22-0 run before Carlton would score 5 unanswered to end the first half. Esko lead 36-15 at the half and they would continue their ways in the second half, scoring on many fast breaks and finishing through fouls en route to outscoring the Bulldogs 48-8 which resulted in the 84-23 victory for the Eskomos.

Leading the Eskomos to their 10th straight win was Kory Deadrick who notched a game high 27 points. Marc Peterson and Aaron Olson were both also in double digits with 13 and 10 points respectively. Jacob Lindstrom added 7, Matt Bolgrean and Elijah Mattinen pitched in 6 a piece, Casey Staniger scored 5, Nate Johnson tallied 4, and Derek Pantsar, Ryan Bodie, and Alex Walther topped it off with 2 points a piece.

In the loss for the Bulldogs, Adam Ermatinger and Dominic Bennett each scored 7 points. Tyler Ojibway added 3, and Cade Pierson, Nick Lee, and Sam Macor topped it off with 2 points each.

With the victory the Esko Eskomos improve to 11-1 on the season and will match up with the Foley Falcons (4-9) on the road, January 11th. The Bulldogs drop to 2-9 on the season and will travel to play the high scoring Fond Duc Lac Ogichida (10-1) on January 14th.
