Spartans top Proctor in Boys Hockey

Superior blitzed Proctor with four first period goals and then cruised to a 5-2 win over the Rails in boys high school hockey played in Superior on Friday night.
  The Spartans scored the first four goals of the game before the Rails managed to cut the first period lead to 4-1 as the first period drew to a close.  Jesse Polson, Aaron Miller, Tyler Nystrom and Beau Reder all scored in the first 10-minutes of the opening stanza for the Spartans before the Rails finally broke through on a goal from Christian Ripley that was assisted by Cade Hella at 15:59 on a power play.
  The Rails, and goaltender Tanner Haedrich, managed to shut down the Spartans offense in the second period and they also managed a goal of their own which came off the stick of Ripley at 6:34 to cut the gap to 4-2 after two periods.
  Superior scored the only goal of the third period when Miller scored his second goal of the game from Polson and Nystrom at the 16:39 mark on the power play making the final score 5-2.
  The Spartans put 36 shots on Haedrich who finished with 31 saves, while the Rails tested Superior goaltender Paxton Paine 19 times and Paine finished with 17 saves.
