Polars Bears sneak past Wrens

Kerry Rodd – NSO

The Floodwood Polar Bears had just enough gas left in the tank last night as they hung on for a 68-67 win over the Wrenshall Wrens in boys high school basketball.
Floodwood managed to hold a four-point lead, 41-37, halftime lead, but the game was in doubt the entire contest until the final buzzer.
Willow Christianson had a big night for the Polar Bears with 26 points, but Floodwood also had big efforts from the entire squad.  Riley Bernsdorf chipped in with 15 points, Kyle Tamminen added 13 points, Noah Thompson scored 11 and it was Ryder Lough with three points.
The Wrens exhibited a lot of depth with seven different players hitting the scorebook with the 22 points of Jared Kittel leading the way.  Hunter Pauly added 10 points for Wrenshall, Jesse Ellerbe and Marcus Virginia both had nine points, it was Dustin Shelton with eight points, Aaron Adkins added six and it was Andrew Frank contributing three points.
