Cloquet Golfers Compete in Grand Slam Invitational

The Cloquet boys golf team competed in the Grand Slam Invitational over the weekend in Grand Rapids. The Lumberjacks played against some of the best golf teams and individuals in the state.

Cloquet
finished ninth out of the seventeen teams that competed in the tournament. Moorhead won the team portion of the tournament with a score of 603, Hermantown also shot 603 but lost in a playoff. Eagan finished third with a score of 620.

The individual title went to Nick Olsgaard of Moorhead who shot 145.
Alex Kolquist of Hermantown tied for second with Glen Walls of International Falls, both
shooting 146. Lumberjack golfers finished in the following order: Jack McFarlane 75-87 for a total of 162, Derek Schrecengost shot 83-81 for a 164, Andrew Castle and Eric Fryc 91 both shot 176, and Danny Nelson shot 187.

The Lumberjack boys are in action again Wednesday at the Cloquet Country Club in the Lake Superior Conference 9-hole tournament. The tournament will begin with 3:00 pm tee times. Next Monday, the Cloquet Invitational will be held at the Cloquet Country Club beginning at 10:00 am.
