Lady Lumberjack Golfers Place Third in Opening Meet

The Cloquet Lady Lumberjacks placed third in their first tournament of the season at the Cloquet Country Club on Wednesday. This Lake Superior Conference meet was a nine-hole meet for all players.

The Lumberjacks finished third in the team competition, shooting 252. The Hermantown Hawks captured first place in the meet, shooting a team total of 198. Duluth Marshall was second with a score of 224, Proctor was fourth with 272, and Central was fifth shooting 284. Duluth Denfeld did not have enough girls playing to post a team score.

Hermantown’s Oliva Tusa was the girls medalist, shooting 47. Her teammate, Haley Wolfe,
finished second with a round of 48. Third place went to Emma Stauber of Duluth Marshall who shot 50, fourth was Molly Kolquist of Hermantown shooting 51, and Callie Wilson of Hermantown was fifth with a score of 52.

Jessica Randall shot a 54, leading the lady
lumberjack golfers. Sydnee Ericson had a round of 61, Laura Bakken shot 62 and Jessica Branning shot 72 for the Jacks. Thirty-one golfers took part in the girls Lake Superior Meet.

The Lady Lumberjacks will be in action again next Wednesday in another Lake Superior meet at Nemadji Golf Course. Players will tee off at 3:00 pm on the north and south course.
