Polar Bears top Rebels

Riley Brensdorf connected on a three pointer as time expired to give the Polar Bears a home win over the MLWR Rebels by a score of 62-59 to complete a comeback for Floodwood.

Floodwood who lost Thursday night in a close match-up against Cherry  55-53 in a tight sectional contest came back to pick up the home win Friday night.

The Polar Bears trailed the Rebels at the half way point, when Moose Lake-Willow River had built up a seven point 33-26 lead at halftime.

Ryder Lough drained three 3-pointers in the win for the Polar Bears and he matched team mate Willow Christenson with 17 points in the victory in this Polar League Conference match up.

Brensdorf finished with 15 points on the night, while Noah Thompson chipped in with 7, and it was Kyle Tamminen who added 2 points for Floodwood.

The Rebel were led by forward Ike Pederson who finished with a game high 18 points for the Rebels, Brad Fossum added 12, Zach Schaumberg finished with 9, while Matt Mach and Trenton Autio each pitched in with 8.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-1 on the season and they will be back in action again on Dec 26th as the Polar Bears will have a rematch with Cherry in the Northwoods Holiday Tournament.

The Rebels fall to 3-3 on the season and they will face Fond du Lac in the Crosby-Ironton Holiday tournament beginning next Thursday in Crosby.
