Hawks Fly By Hunters

The Hermantown Hawks and Duluth Denfeld Hunters squared off on Thursday night and it would be the Hawks that came out victorious with the 59-46 victory.

The Hawks got off on the right foot to start the game, ending the half with the 28-17 win. The second half would be more closely contested, with Hermantown only outscoring Duluth Denfeld by 2, but when the buzzer sounded, the Hawks would hold the 59-46 victory.

Leading the Hawks in the win was Jordyn Thomas would lead all scorers with 17 points. Carly Hansen 10 and Shania Bolen also hit double digits with 10. Also scoring in the win was Emily Neumann with 9, Mariah Ruhanen adding 7, and Kianna Hren topping it off with 6 points.

In the loss for the Hunters, Keara Ballavance, Lexi Hill, and Ashley Taipale all had 14 points on the night. Ciarra Taipale rounded out the scoring for the Hunters with 4 points.

With the win, the Hermantown Hawks improve to 2-3 on the season and will square off with the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars (1-3) in the Esko Coaches Classic on December 27th at 2:45 PM. The Hunters drop to 2-5 on the season and will match-up with the Cloquet Lumberjacks (3-1) on December 20th in Cloquet.
