Rails Top Hilltoppers

The Proctor Rails girls basketball found their first victory on the young season when they squared off against the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers, 65-26.

The Rails would be dominant from start to finish in the match-up. They would grab the 33-17 lead at halftime and would go on to outscore the Hilltoppers 32-9 in the second half while on their way to their first victory of the season.

Leading the way for Proctor in the win was Bridget Tesser who had a game high 18 points. Also with a great performance, Lexi DeWall would score 16 points. Krista Mottonen and Kyla Merrill each respectively had 8, Brianna Westendorf added 7, Kelly Kruger notched 6. Heidi Shelton and Kiara Westendorf topped it off with 1 a piece.

In the loss for the Hilltoppers, Kate Kleinschmidt would lead them in scoring with 7. Mary Baumgartner, Hannah Matthews, Meagan Matthews, and Maddie Eyer all added 4, Ann Kleinschmidt punched in 2, and Rachel DeWitte topped it off with 1.

The Proctor Rails improve to 1-3 with the win and will be back into action on December 19th when they travel to take on the Hibbing Bluejackets (1-4). The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers fall to 2-3 on the season and will be back in action when they travel to Eveleth to take on the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears (3-2) on December 20th.
