The Mirage would get an important midseason victory over the Superior Spartans on Wednesday night, grabbing the 7-3 victory.

The Mirage would get to a fast start as they would score 5 goals throughout the first 2 period. Getting the night started was Reilly Fawcett who scored at the 7:28 minute. Superiors Paige Harker would respond just a little over a minute later to tie it up at 1-1. Four minutes later, Proctor-Hermantown would gain the lead back when Sophie McGovern scored giving them the 2-1 lead.

In the second period, Proctor-Hermantown would score again, just a minute in when Jillayne Gilbert put one in the back on the net. Fawcett would score her second goal of the evening at the 2:33 minute mark of the second period to give the Mirage the 4-1 lead. Superior would chip into the lead when Emma Peterson got one past the goalie, but just 22 seconds later, Proctor-Hermantown would get the goal back when Abby Halverson scored on the Power Play, giving them the 5-2 lead.

In the final period of play, the Spartans would cut into the lead when Samantha Young scored, but that would be as close as they’d get as Jillayne Gilbert would score her second goal at the 10 minute mark and Sophie McGovern also added to her nightly stats punching the final goal of the evening in at the 14 minute mark, giving the Mirage the 7-3 victory.

Amy Lemenager for Proctor-Hermantown would notch 19 saves on the night. Missy Walkowiak for Superior would have 5 saves and Justine Stenberg would have 11.

With the win, the Mirage improve to 6-5 on the year and will be back into action on December 19th when they play the Duluth Northern Stars (3-4-1) in Hermantown. The Spartans fall to 1-1 on the year and will play Moose Lake Area Rebels (5-5-2) on December 21st in Moose Lake at 1:00 PM
