Hawks Top Denfeld in Boys Hockey

It took overtime to do it, but the Hermantown Hawks managed to salvage a 3-2 win over Duluth Denfeld in boys hockey on Tuesday night.
  The Hunters took a 1-0 lead on a Tre Opack goal in the first period at 1:41 on the power play with an assist to Steve Maciver.  The lead held up until the 1:05 mark of the second period when the Hawks scored a short handed goal at 1:05 by Scott Wasbotten.

Denfeld bounced back to take a 2-1 lead at 7:12 in the second on a power play tally by Alex Larson with Jake DeCaro and Ryan Rukavina assisting and that’s how things stood after two periods.
  Hermantown tied the game in the third period with 6:12 remaining in regulation on a goal by Kyle Amundson assisted by Wyatt Aamodt.

  The overtime game winning goal was scored by Hermantown’s Amundson at 1:25 unassisted.

  For the game the Hawks put 41 shots on Denfeld goalie Wes Cook who made 38 saves, while Adam Smith of Hermantown made 18 saves on 20 shots.
