Thunderhawks Storm Past Hunters

The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks would storm over the Duluth Denfeld Hunters on Thursday evening, taking home the victory 70-38.

Grand Rapids would get off to a nice start in the first half, grabbing the 40-22 lead when the buzzer sounded for halftime. The Thunderhawks wouldn’t look back as they’d outscore the Hunters again in the 2nd half, 30-16 as they grabbed the win handily, 70-38.

In the victory for Grand Rapids, Hannah Morris would lead all scorers with 16 points. Also having nice performances on the evening were Taylor Kane with 14, Olivia Lopac tacked on 8, and Heaven Hamling pitched in 7. Rounding out the scoring in the victory was Claire Petersen with 6, Maggie Gibbons adding 5, Megan Allen punching in 5, Kari Kuschel had 3 and Kali Lelonek, Kaitlyn Guertin, and Andrea Gould would all have 2 points.

In the loss for the Hunters, Lexi Hill would lead them in scoring with 14. Ashley Taipale pitched in a nice effort with 12 points. Tayler Ballavance and Maddy White each had 4 and Gabby Nordman and Ciarra Taipale rounded it out with 2 a piece.

With the win, Grand Rapids improves to 4-1 on the season and will be back into action when they welcome Duluth East to town on Thursday, December 17th. Duluth Denfeld falls to 1-4 on the young season and will be back into action on Saturday, December 14th when they host Two Harbors in a 1:00 PM matchup.
