Barnum Stays Unbeaten

The Barnum Bombers remained unbeaten on Thursday night when the lady Bombers stopped the MLWR Rebels by a score of 48-35.

The Bombers and the Rebels battled away most of the first half and saw three lead changes but only Barnum could only build the lead of only five points at halftime at 22-17.

The Rebels responded quickly in the second half as they outscored the Bombers 13-3 in the first few minutes of the half and held a five point 30-25 lead. The Lead remained five for several minutes as neither Barnum nor MLWR could get offense rolling.

The Bombers who had their star post Daron Mainville on the bench with four fouls most of the early part of the second half, saw her return to the floor with 11 minutes to play and Mainville sparked a second half surge in which Barnum regained the lead a few minutes later.

The Rebels continued to struggle as they ended up going almost 8 minutes without a point as they struggled to get offense rolling. “We couldn’t get a shot to fall when we did take a good shot them we had kids not wanting the ball which really hurt” Head Coach Joe Adamczak told Northland Sports Online.

Mainville ended with 20 points to lead all scorers, Emily Miletich had 14 including two 3-pointers, Lauren Hultgren and Megan Nelson both finished with 6, and Cheyanne Johnson ended with 2 points.

Adri Jusczak had 13 points in the loss for the Rebels, Hayley Johnson added 6, Morgan Pracher and Kayla Radel each chipped in with 5, while Hannah Walker, Holly Mattison, and Jodi Michalski all had 2 points.

The Bombers move to 3-0 on the season and they will face a stiff test Saturday when they will take on Braham Saturday afternoon in Braham. The Rebels fall to 3-1 and they will host Floodwood next Thursday night in Willow River.
