PROCTOR – The Cloquet Lady Lumberjacks clicked on all fronts Monday night to beat the Proctor Rails 66-25. The Lumberjacks came out strong and never looked back, picking up the win after losing their last two games to Hibbing and Hermantown.

Cloquet came out fast and continued to play very well to pick up thier seventh win of the season. The Jacks built an early 14-2 lead before Proctor could get going on offense. Proctor made a small run, cutting the lead to six points at 16-10 midway through the first half.
However, Cloquet pounded the ball inside to Annabel Morrisroe and the Jacks closed out the first half on a 23-3 run to lead 39-13 at the break.

Cloquet came out in the second half and dominated the same as they had in the first half. Cloquet again looked inside the paint, but more than just Morrisroe contributed in the second half. “It was nice to get a lot of girls quality time tonight,” head coach Jeff Ojanen told Northland Sports Online. “We are searching for the next player to step up and add another dimension to our offense.”

The Lumberjacks also dominated the boards Monday, outrebounding Proctor by a 57-25 margin. Furthermore, the Jacks scored 24 points off turnovers to assist them in the 41-point win.
Morrisroe led all scorers Monday with 19 points, Krista Schmitz and Brianna Henagin added 10 points each, Katie Papas poured in 7, while Kialee Kutter, Sarah McMillen, and Claire Rosen all finished with 6 each and Mary Keller ended with 2 points on the night. Proctor was led by Kara Clouthier with 5 points, while Aubrey Knox, Abby Lundeen, Micayla Westendorf, and Lindsey Verhel all had 4 points and Haylee Clouthier ended with 2.

The Lumberjacks improve to 7-10 on the season and will be home Friday night when they host Duluth Marshall. The Rails fall to 2-16 on the season and are back in action again on Friday when they host Superior in a Lake Superior Conference match-up.
