Boys Basketball

AlBrook 81 Cherry 66

The AlBrook Falcons beat the hosting Cherry Tigers Friday night in this St. Louis County Conference match-up. The Falcons have now won eight of their last ten games and improve to 8-4 on the season.

Floodwood 69 Carlton 64

Floodwood battled back from a four point deficit at halftime on Friday night to defeat the Carlton Bulldogs in Carlton. Jared Schminski scored 19 points in the win for Floodwood. Jake Adams led all scorers with 23 points for the Bulldogs.

Cromwell 84 McGregor 82 (2OT)

It took two overtimes Friday night to determine the winner in this contest, the end result being the Cromwell Cardinals coming away with the two point win in McGregor. Jordan Smith scored 20 points in the win for Cromwell, while Preston Hurd scored 29 in the loss for McGregor.

Esko 63 Barnum 49

Esko used a 12-4 run to jump ahead of Barnum late in the first half. From there on it was the “Jake Stainbrook show” as he scored 31 points on the night including thirteen from the free throw line. Josh Hogan had 16 for Barnum.

Mora 58 MLWR 40

The Rebels lost their halftime lead on Friday when the Mora Mustangs outscored them by twenty points in the second half to come away with the 18 point win. Trevor Nummela led the Rebels with 10 points on the night.

Hibbing 64 Proctor 30

The Proctor Rails continued to struggle Friday night, falling to the Bluejackets in this non-conference matchup in Hibbing. The Rails struggled offensively, only scoring thirty points in the loss.

Cook County 63 Wrenshall 56

The Vikings jumped out to a seven point halftime lead Friday and held on to defeat the Wrens at home on Friday night. James Groth scored a game high of 29 points for Cook County in the win. Wrenshall was led by Bryce Schmidt, who scored 23 in the loss.

Girls Basketball

Hermantown 60 Cloquet 58

The Hermantown Hawks built a two point half time lead over Cloquet and maintained it until the final buzzer.
Mary Neumann led Hermantown with 19 points, while Brianna Henagin finished with 15 for the Jacks.

Cook County 74 Wrenshall 24

The Cook County Vikings took an early lead Friday and cruised to the Polar League win at home. Ashley Deschampe scored 17 points for Cook County, while Maria Burcar led the Wrens in scoring with 15 points.
