The Esko Eskomos rebounded from a tough loss last week in Moose Lake to beat the Barnum Bombers in Esko on Friday night. The Eskomos downed Barnum by a score of 63-49. With the win, Esko ended a three game losing streak, while the loss for Barnum ended a three game winning streak.

Both teams came out and traded baskets in the early going with no distinct advantage. Esko then took control of the game in the first half by taking an eight point lead midway through the half. Barnum fought back to cut the lead down to three, but a 12-4 run to close out the first half was the key to sealing the victory for Esko.

The second half saw Barnum trying to make runs at the Eskomos, but it was just too much. Jake Stainbrook controlled the second half for Esko by scoring 31 points on the night. His biggest contribution came from the free throw line where he was 13-17. His 17 free throw attempts were three more than Barnum had for the entire game.

Adam Eskuri followed Stainbrook in scoring with 17 points on the night. Cody Townsend and Adam Deveau each added 5, Jackson Lindquist scored 4 points, and rounding out the scoring was Phil Wirtz with 1.

Barnum was led by Josh Hogan with 16 points, Taylor Carlson added 10, Nick White had 6, Justin Newman and Jacob Naslund both added 5, Bobby Minkkinen scored 3, and Hector Chavez and Andrew Youngren both had 2.

Esko improves to 9-6 on the season and hosts Duluth Denfeld on Monday night. Barnum drops to 12-3 overall and play at home Tuesday in a big Polar League match up against Floodwood.
