It was a wild one, but in the end the Moose Lake Area Rebels had just enough gas left in the tank to deliver a 5-4 win over Minneapolis West in boys hockey on Thursday night.

Austin Lanoue came up with a big game by providing the Rebels with 33 saves in picking up the win. However, things got a tad bit shaky for MLA near the end of the game when MW managed to score two goals in the final six minutes of regulation.

MW scored first in the first period at 1:09, but the Rebels bounced back to tie the game on a goal by Michael Unzen with Asa Spicer assisting at 9:38 and things were even at 1-1 after a period of play.

Ville Mattala gave the Rebels a 2-1 lead just 11 seconds into the second period with Spicer assisting, but MW tied it on a goal at 16:10 by Newton Fuller– his second goal of the game.

The third period was wild with the Rebels managing the first two goals and staking themselves to a 4-2 edge. At 4:42 it was Tyler Cisar scoring on assists from Andrew Norby and Jake Cisar. Then, Unzen rammed home a goal at 5:37 with Rejean Carlson assisting it. However, Fuller notched the hat trick at 9:16 to cut the Rebel lead to 4-2. MLA responded at 11:43 when Jake Cisar scored with assists to Tyler Cisar and Unzen and the lead was back to a 5-3 edge
for the Rebels. Again MW fought back, this time on a goal at 15:07 by Zach Austin. Yet, the Rebels were able to hang on and preserve the win the rest of the way.

The Rebels tossed 33 shots at MW goalie T. J. Mosley, who made 28 saves, while Lanoue faced 37 shots from MW.
