Cloquet Boys Stay Hot With Win Over Proctor

The Cloquet Lumberjacks continued playing some of the best basketball of the season to defeat Proctor 68-31 Tuesday night. This is the Jack’s fifth win in a row and their eighth of the last nine games. With the victory over Proctor, the Jacks move to 12-4 on the season.


Cloquet jumped out to an early lead Tuesday and never looked back, winning this Lake Superior Conference game. The Lumberjacks built a 37-11 halftime lead and continued to roll in the second half, going on to win by 37 points.

Chad Calcaterra led Cloquet with 18 points on the night; while also adding 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. RaRa Jones scored 15 points in the win, Connor Stowell added 6, Cody Stevens scored 5 points, Tim Defoe, Andy Wappes and Ben Shultz all scored 4 points, Peter LaCourse and Karl Palmquist both finished with 3, and Zach Peterson, Zach Zezulka and Dane Kiehn all ended with 2 points.


Ryan Rands led Proctor with 8 points, Anders Vos had 7, Iziah Schramm had 6, Charles Burns ended with 5, Jacob White added 4, and Kaz Anderson rounded out the Proctor scoring with 1 point in the Rails’ loss.


Cloquet will try to make it their sixth consecutive win when they travel to face Bemidji on Thursday night. The Proctor Rails fall to 3-11 on the season and face the hosting Eveleth-Gilbert Thursday night.
