Eskomo Girls Hold Off Hermantown

The Lady Eskomos withstood a late run by the hosting Hermantown Hawks Monday night to win this non-conference matchup 68-60. The Eskomos have now won two straight games since their loss to Pequot Lakes.


Esko opened up early in the first half, doing well from both inside and outside of the paint.
The Eskomos hit 8 three-points on the night, while Hermantown hit 7 three-pointers in the game.


Keely Deadrick paced the way for the Eskomos, hitting four three-pointers and finishing with 23 points on the night. Esko jumped out to a 30- 23 lead at half and went on to the six point win.


Following Deadrick in scoring was Savanna Trapp with 15 points on the night. Trapp nearly missed a triple-double with 8 rebounds and 8 blocked shots on the night. Amanda Bergstedt chipped in 12, Lydia Pelletier added 9, Julianne Carley scored 5 points and Katie Tonner rounded out the scoring with 4.


Hermantown was led by Mary Neumann with 16. Rachael Hoium and Jess Love each had 14, Carmen Bergstedt 5, Nicole Niemi and Lydia McMillan both had 4 points for the Hawks and Ally Dieryck closed out with 3 points.


Esko Improves to 13-2 on the season and will play a huge conference game at Barnum on Thursday night. The Hawks fall to 11-5 and host the Cloquet Lumberjacks in a big Lake Superior match-up on Friday night.
