Carlton Falls To East Central 71-44

CARLTON – The East Central Eagles used a 16-0 run midway through the second half on Monday to down the hosting Carlton Bulldogs in a non-conference match up. The Eagles defeated the Bulldogs by a final score of 71-44.

East Central jumped out early in the first half, building a 20-8 lead behind Jake Klocke, who scored 14 first half points. The Bulldogs fought their way back into the first half with the help of some fine shooting by Allan Davis and Jake Adams to cut the lead down to four at 28-24.
The Eagles, however, outscored Carlton 6-2 in the final few minutes to take a 34-26 lead at halftime.

The Eagles came out in the second half and became more aggressive, jumping to a 42-28 lead. Still, the Bulldogs had a run left in them, cutting the lead to 43-36. However,
that is a close as they would come because East Central capitalized on the Bulldogs’ mistakes to go on a 16-0 run and win by 27.

East Central’s Jake Klocke led all scorers with 20 points on the night. Jake Jensen added 16 points and Kevin Klocke ended with 12 points in the Eagles win.

The Bulldogs were led by Allan Davis with 14 points, Jake Adams added 11, Matthew Lund scored 7, Jasper Youngren had 4, Marc Shoberg, Nick Vacura, Tyler Peterson, and Derek Frear all finished with 2 points, and rounding out the scoring with 1 point each was Kyle Gunderson and Kodie Peterson.

East Central improves to 6-9 on the season and face the leaders of Section 5A, the Isle Huskies, in Isle on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fall to 1-14 on the season and play Floodwood at home Friday night.
