Marshall Drops Season Opener

The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers opened their 2013-2014 season with a loss Saturday afternoon, as the Hilltoppers fell to St. Paul Academy by a score of 68-44 in St. Paul.

Kent Hanson led the Spartans with 20 points on the afternoon as the Spartans won their second game in as many day to start their season 2-0 overall. The Spartans had three others in double figures Saturday, as Dalante Peyton scored 13 points, Harrisen Egly added 12 and Ben Pettee finished with 11.

Levi Staine was the Hilltoppers top score as he finished with 12 points, Adam Kneepkens added 11, while Cole Feriancek poured in 8. Cole Bradshaw added 7 points and Alexander Davis pitched in with 3 points in the loss.

The Spartans are back in action Tuesday night when they will host St. Paul Humboldt. The Hilltoppers will try to pick up their first win of the season on Monday night when they host Wrenshall.
