Gerzin- Timberwolves Rush Past Floodwood

Louis Gerzin rushed for three touchdowns and 202 yards Friday night as the Timberwolves pick up the state quarterfinal nine-man victory at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth over the Floodwood Polar Bears.

Ely scored three consecutive second half touchdowns to break the game open in the second half and earn a semi final match up Thursday with Underwood at the Mall of America Filed in Minneapolis.

Gerzin had touchdown runs of 7,52, and 5 yards to lead the Timberwolves, Sean Jordan also rushed for one touchdown and had an interception return for a touchdown as the Timberwolves improve to 12-0 on the season.

Evan Suonvieri  scored twice in the first half for Floodwood to make it a close contest at halftime in which Ely led 14-13. Jonah Schnortz and Kyle Tamminen scored late in the fourth quarter for the Polar Bears but at that time the outcome had been already decided.

Floodwood finishes its season with a record of 11-1 as they made their first ever state football appearance. Head Coach Larry Heggadahl told Northland Sports Online “I am so proud of these kids the worked hard on and off the field and i hope this is the start of an ongoing occurrence to make state football appearances.”
