The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels took on the Barnum Bombers Tuesday night in Barnum. After being tied at the end of the first half, the Rebels pulled away for the eight point, 66-58 win. This win puts Moose Lake-Willow River atop the Polar League standings as the season closes in on the half way mark.


Austin Jacobson led the Rebels in scoring with 27 points on the night, with twelve of his points coming from beyond the three point arc. Ryan Adamczak added 13 points on the night, Caleb Koecher 11, Lucas Probst 8, Trevor Nummela 4, Jacob Drewlo and Taylor Mattison 2 each and Rudy Ketchum finished with 1 point.


“We played really well in the second half,” head coach Neil Dickinson told Northland Sports Online. “Barnum is tough. They throw a lot at you and we came up big when we needed to.” He continued on to say, “Jacobson was terrific tonight. He kept us going and hit those big shots down the stretch.”


The Barnum Bombers were led in scoring by Nick White, who finished with 21 points, fifteen of which were from three pointers. Bobby Minkkinen added 10 points, Josh Hogan scored 9, Justin Newman finished with 8, Jacob Naslund and Andrew Youngren both finished with 5 points in the Barnum loss.


Moose Lake improves to 9-3 overall on the season and are in action again on Friday when they play at Carlton. Barnum falls to 9-2 on the season and play at Two Harbors on Friday night.
