The Albrook Falcons entered Monday’s game against the Carlton Bulldogs on a roll, winning their last three games and averaging over 74 points per game during that stretch. The Bulldogs were determined to play their best game of the year, but they fell short at 63-40.

“I think we played our best game of the season,” head coach Carl Grussendorf told Northland Sports Online. “The kids played really hard and the score really doesn’t reflect how close it was…We had the lead down to six late in the game but we just ran out of gas.”
Grussendorf was also very pleased with how his defense shut down two of AlBrook’s top scorers, holding both Karppinens to a combined 13 points on the night which is well below their season averages.

Falcon’s Peter Martin led all scorers with 18 points on the night. Joey Haag added 9, Bryce Karppinen was held to 7 points, Damondtaye Gaines and Kolten Karppinen both finished with 6 points, Cody Anderson added 5, Nick Hayes, Freddie Jackson and Jon Bolme all ended with 4 points in the Falcon win.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Jake Adams finishing with 12, Japer Youngren had 8, Allan Davis finished with 6, while Matthew Lund poured in 4 points. Rounding out the Bulldog scoring was Nick Vacura with 3, Tyler Peterson and Derek Freer with 2, and Kodie Peterson ending with 1 point.

The Falcons improve to 4-2 on the season and are in action again Tuesday night at home against Orr. The Bulldogs fall to 0-11 on the season and play at home Friday night against Moose Lake-Willow River.
