WILLOW RIVER – The Barnum Bombers got back in the winning column on Monday when they beat Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels 72-29. After falling to Sebeka on Saturday, the Bombers rebounded in a big way by rolling to the 43 point win in Willow River.

The Bombers came out very determined to correct that loss and refocus on getting back to the winning side. They were on their way to doing just that by jumping out to an early lead behind the outside shooting of Katie Myhre and Jessica Newman, both of who scored 15 points in the first half.

Katie Myhre scored on five three-pointers, while Newman scored on a three-pointer shot from outside as well as drives to the basket. Barnum went 6-7 beyond the three point line in the first half alone.

Moose Lake-Willow River head coach Andrew Miller stated, “We needed to be focused going in and not in awe…The girls need to focus on what we do best and work on that.” He added, “Barnum is good, very good but we can’t keep making the mistakes we did and expect to stay with them.”

The second half saw Barnum pound the ball inside to Sarah Myhre, who ended up leading all scorers with 23 points on the night. Newman and Katie Myhre both finished with 17 points, Claire Rodgers added 6, Daron Mainville scored 4, Candice Paulson 3, and Karianna Duesler finished with 2 points in the win. The Bombers improve to 11-2 on the season and face Pequot Lakes at home on Saturday.

The Rebels were paced by Taryn Davis, who finished with 8 points on the night.
Rachel Mach and Natasha Dragicevich both had 6 points, Kathryn Coli added 4 and Maddy Adamczak rounded out the scoring with 2 points. The Rebels are back in action on Thursday when they host the Lady Bulldogs of Carlton.
