The Duluth East Greyhounds proved to be too much to handle for the Eskomos on Friday, beating them 94-70. The Eskomos, placed in Class AA, took on one of the Northlands best teams in Class AAAA and fought with them until the end.

The Greyhounds had too many weapons Friday night. Some hot shooting from sophomore Johnny Woodard and senior Dyami Starks proved to be a double threat as they combined for 61 of the Greyhounds 94 points. The Eskomos took an early 5-4 lead in the first half, but they would never come within eight points after the Greyhounds were released.
East built a margin that, at one point, was as much as 33 points.

Woodard was 4-8 from beyond the 3 point line and 6-7 from the free throw line to finish with 32 points. Starks was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line and was equally as hot from the field, finishing with 29 for Duluth East.

Brent Bodie was an offensive machine for the Eskomos as he finished with 23 points on the night. Bodie was an amazing 12-15 from the field, which included 4 three-pointers for the Eskomos.

Jake Stainbrook scored 17 points for Esko, Jackson Lindquist added 10, Adam Eskuri finished with 7, Cody Townsend 5, Adam Ryan chipped in with 4 and Andrew Wendland and Adam Deveau both ended with 2 points in the loss.

The Eskomos fall to 8-2 on the season and will be in action Tuesday night at home in a Polar League matchup against the Floodwood Polar Bears. Duluth East improves to 8-4 on the season and play at Hibbing on Tuesday night.
